Week 6A- What's in a name?
My name is Anna. This is the Latinate form of Hannah which means favour or grace. It was in the New Testament and belonged to a prophetess that recognized Jesus as the Messiah. In the early days it was a popular name in the Byzantine Empire. In the middle ages it was more popular among western Christians. For the most part I like my name; mostly because it is really simple. My name is kind of fitting, but I’m not sure about the whole grace thing. I’m not very graceful. If I were a guy I would’ve been named Tommy. I’m glad I wasn’t because I’m not a huge fan of that name. If I could start over again and change my name I’m not positive what it would be, but I really like the name Riley. To make it unique I would spell it differently though. Like maybe Rylie.
Week 4A- Nature vs. Nurture
I think that genetics are part of what influences us, but I think the way we are brought up has a bigger influence. It’s true that we are born with certain abilities, but if we practice enough at something we aren’t good at, we can eventually get better. It’s like teaching a dog tricks. Even if it isn’t the smartest dog around you can still work with it enough to get it to be able to sit. If you are raised in a home where it is considered a bad thing to smoke or drink, then you would probably be less likely to do those bad things in the future. But if you live with parents who smoke and drink you are more likely to do those things in the future.

Week 5A- If i were a..
Wellll here we go…If I were a color I would be neon pink. Mostly because it is my favorite color, but also because it is bright and exciting. I am usually pretty excited about something so I think that neon pink shows my personality. If I were a type of food I would be a big juicy steak. Steak is delicious and pretty much mouth watering. But, if I were a steak, everyone would want to eat me and that wouldn’t be cool :[. If I were a superhero I would be Superman because he can fly. I have always wanted to fly, and being able to wear a cape while doing so would basically be like a dream come true.

Week 3A- A Star is Born
If I could star in any movie of my choice it would be an action movie. That way it would be exciting and thrilling and I would be able to do a lot of stunts. The shooting location would be in Australia somewhere because I have always wanted to go there and that would give me a reason to. I would change outfits like a million times and then force the movie people to let me keep the clothes because I love clothes. My costar would be some crazy person like Jackie Chan. I don’t think I would really be able to get into character unless it was an action film because I can’t be serious enough to have some romantic conversation while a camera is rolling.

Week 2A- Creative Costumes
I always get really excited for Halloween and every year my costume is pretty much amazing. My all time favorite costume was Barney. I was like three or four and the costume had a tail and a mask and everything. When I was in first grade I was Tinker Bell. I was all excited and my whole night was ruined when these people jumped out and scared me on a front porch. I fell and ripped my tights and had a bloody knee, and I definitely cried. My funniest Halloween memory was when I was a Barbie cheerleader and my brother was Scream. We went with a pretty big group that year and when my brother was running to the next house he ran into a fence. I have never seen a bigger bruise in my life! I couldn’t keep from laughing, but Jess did not find it funny at all. The best part is after trick or treating. My brother and I would always go home and sort our candy into groups. Then we would trade our candy for something the other one had that we liked better.

Week 1A- Music Defines You
In the days of slavery the slaves would sing songs that sort of defined them. Today I listen to all sorts of music. Country, rap, hip hop, alternative, punk, emo, rock, basically anything. The music I listen to changes with the mood I am in. When I am mad I listen to rock, punk, alternative, or emo music. But really i listen to alternative music all the time. Whenever i fly on an airplane, i have this tradition that i have to listen to God Bless the USA. Kind of weird but I've done it since I was little. If I’m sad I usually listen to slow country songs. When I’m happy or excited I listen to a lot of hip hop because it’s just pretty much amazing. I think the fact that I listen to a little bit of everything shows that my personality is very random. In the future people will probably listen to our music and say it is stupid. Just like we listen to the music our parents grew up with and say it is stupd.

Week No. 4 Dumb Laws
There are a lot of dumb laws in the world so here are a few of what I guess I would call my favorites.
- It is considered an offense to open an umbrella on a street, for fear of spooking horses. [Why in the heck would there be horses on the road?]
- Boogers may not be flicked into the wind. [EEEWWW!]
- It is considered an offense to push a live moose out of a moving airplane. [Umm since when do moose go on airplanes??]
- Coins are not allowed to be placed in one’s ears. [That would hurt so bad! Why would you do that?!]

Week No. 6 Making a Comeback
“Every setback is an opportunity for a comeback.” This is so true with anything you do in life. I have experienced a lot of setbacks with my ankles. I have injured them three times in the last two and a half years. Two of those times have put me on crutches, and the third time [right now] I have to wear a giant stupid boot thing for a month. It sucks. But I have learned to heal them as fast as possible and get right back into my sports. There is nothing worse than having to watch all of your teammates participate when you can barely even walk. So I guess I would say that is my motivation for getting better as quickly as I can.
Week No. 5 Grizzly You
If I could go anywhere in the world to be a transcendentalist, I would go to a Caribbean Island like the Bahamas or Haiti. That or just some random deserted Island would be fun too. I would go here because I love the calmness of being near the ocean. Although it is great to just relax on the beach all day I would encounter some problems. There could be bad weather like hurricanes if I was there during that season, and there are sharks in the ocean. Sharks scare the crap out of me so I wouldn’t like that too much. If I were to actually go I think my personality would change. I would probably feel less pressured to be perfect. I would learn to not overly care about certain things.

Week No. 3 About My School
If you are thinking about becomming part of Olympia probably the most important thing you need to know about Olympia is that everyone knows everything about everybody. It is such a small school that things get around pretty fast. Everyone knows everybody, and for the most part Olympia is a pretty great school. Some things you need to know are that tenderloin day is Wednesday and you better never miss it because they are the best. We almost never win Friday night football games, and that is probably the worst thing about Olympia. When it rains a lot the lagoon smells like something crawled in a hole and died, and when standing outside every direction you look, all you will see is corn. We have groups, or cliques as you might call them, but we are all still pretty friendly to each other, and lastly we have some pretty amazing teachers that make Olympia, Olympia.

Week No. 2 Who I Would Like to Meet
If I could meet anyone dead or alive I would choose my mom’s dad. I never got to meet my grandpa Roger because he died at a young age. For a long time he suffered from lung cancer, and it eventually took him. In fact he was so young that he never got to meet any of his grandchildren. I think it would be interesting to ask him what his life was like when he was my age. I am very close to both of my grandma’s, but I have never had a grandpa to be as close to. My Grandpa Jack, on my dad’s side, died not even a year ago and he lived in New Mexico. I’ve always wished I had my grandpa closer to home, but I realize now that it made me cherish the time I had with him even more. Getting back to my Grandpa Roger, I would mostly just want to know the little things that made him who he was. Childhood stories of himself, and his kids would be told best by him, I just know it.

Week No. 1 How School is Going
This school year feels like it is going to take forever, but I know it will fly by. I don’t like my schedule as much as last year because I go from English 2 to Spanish 1. They are too much alike and it makes the afternoon seem endless. Communication Tech is my favorite class right now. Partly because it is super easy and doesn’t take much effort, but also because it gives me a break from the stressful work of other classes. I get to be creative and express myself through music, pictures, and videos. Having biology 2 and English 2 equals plenty of homework, and being in a lot of sports is overwhelming. Sometimes it seems like I almost care too much about my grades, but I know that is a good thing. Over all the year has had an average start and getting back into the swing of things is a tad bit refreshing.
