English blog no. 13

English blog no. 13 Wow that was one BIG turkey!
Thanksgiving couldn’t come fast enough, and for the first time the day went way too fast. My day started at my grandmas at noon when we ate our first feast. We had ham instead of turkey, which I was thankful for considering I hate turkey, and tons of other dishes. My grandma didn’t want everyone at her house so all of my cousins and I ate with her. At about 3 we went to my aunt and uncles on my dad’s side of the family. There were about twenty five people there and an absolutely huge amount of food. My brother and I could only stay there for about an hour and a half before we had to leave for my other aunts on my mom’s side of the family. By that time I had already eaten two full thanksgiving meals and felt like I never wanted to eat again. Although I was stuffed I managed to fit in some more mashed potatoes, and dinner rolls, oh and of course dessert. My aunt Michelle had made three different pies, and we also had apple crisp. The highlight of my Thanksgiving was the wrestling match type of things we always have with my uncle. At one point he had me hanging upside down dangling from his arms. I was laughing but my mom had to ruin the fun and make him put me down. After that my uncle downgraded to “The Shocker”, which is when he tickles you. Now I don’t know about most people but whenever I am tickled, I pee my pants. Luckily I had just gone to the bathroom so it didn’t affect me. For the rest of the night we snuck up on each other giving wet willy’s. Finally we decided to call it a night and go home to get a good nights rest before we would be getting up at three in the morning to go shopping.

English 1 blog no. 11 Just by Looking
First impressions can either make or break a friendship. I believe that you can’t judge a book by its cover because all of my close friends have a lot more to them then what you might see from the outside. I think you can tell by looking at them what their clothing style is. For example I wear mostly Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch and I think that shows that I have more of a classic style rather than a trendy style. For the most part I think you can’t tell about anything just by looking at a person. For example you have to talk to them to know if they are friendly, or intelligent. Just because a person has glasses doesn’t mean they are nerdy or really smart. It just means that they can’t see as well as others. People put stereo types on others before they even get to know them. It is a part of life and something that almost all of us do. We look at someone and say oh they look weird I’m not going to be their friend, but the truth is until we learn more about them we can’t judge them, and who knows they might be judging you too, but be the one to break the ice because you never know how perfect things can turn out. If only we were back in kindergarten where it was as simple as “Hi what’s your name? Wanna be friends?”

The Nature Nut Blog no. 7

Living out in the country you encounter many experiences with nature. Whether it is splashing into the pond off of the zip line or treading through the creek to cool down on a hot summer day, there is no way to avoid nature. During the summer there are plenty of ways to keep entertained outside. Hiking through the woods and riding quads all day are some of the best ways to get some fresh air and have fun. I have had adventures and misadventures with nature but one of them specifically tops them all. My greatest adventure with nature was in third grade when we took a family vacation to the Grand Canyon. We went on a river rafting trip through the Colorado River that winds through the canyon. It was a lot of fun even though the water was 49 degrees and we had to run in it as a tradition of the trip. I also had a bucket of water dumped over my head by our tour guide because I was getting too hot. While we were there we also hiked down the Canyon. I got too tired so I went back up to the rest area with my grandma while the rest of my family and my grandpa hiked all the way down to the bottom of the canyon. We went to Slide Rock on our way back to Phoenix, which is like a creek or river that is formed like a giant slide so you can swim in it. It was so much fun. The funniest part of the whole trip was waking up to see 20 giant elk outside of our hotel window.

Blog no. 12 I’m Stuffed!
This year my Thanksgiving is going be a little bit different than years in the past. For the first time we are going to dinner on both sides of my family so I will be eating a thanksgiving meal twice. I will wake up kind of early for me at about nine o’clock and I won’t eat anything until I go to my grandmas house at noon. My grandma is making ham, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie. I will stuff my face full of food and enjoy a few laughs around the family table. After that I will try to recover in about two hours before we go to my aunt’s house on the other side of the family. My aunt is having turkey, yuck, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, even yuckier, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, and a few other things. I am mostly excited for dessert at my aunts because she is getting a pumpkin cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory in Chicago when she goes to pick up my cousin from his college. It is always fun at my aunts because we have a kids table and an adults table. It’s not much of a kids table because I am the youngest one there but we are all under twenty. We always make fun of what our parents and relatives are talking about and we try to be as annoying as possible. And of course the tradition that tops all others is that we have to have a family wrestling match. Thanksgiving is a great time of year and all of that eating is the best preparation for Black Friday shopping.

Blog no. 10 Morning Routine

My morning routine is very precise. I have to allow myself to wake up a bit before getting into the shower so from 5:45 until 6:09 I hit the snooze button on my alarm clock. It goes off every eight minutes, and even though it is extremely annoying I have to hit snooze three times. Once I rise from my bed I sheepishly make my way to the bathroom. I take my shower and get out around 6:30. From 6:30 to 6:40 I get dressed. Sometimes this takes longer than ten minutes if I can’t decide what to wear. Between 6:40 and 6:45 I go back to the bathroom to do my hair. I have to different hair products that I put in my hair before I use the blow dryer. One gets rid of frizz and one makes my hair soft and shiny. I take about twenty minutes to finish up my hair before I can move on to make up at 7:00. I don’t like to waste a whole lot of time on make up but it has to look nice, so on an average day I take about fifteen minutes. After that I drag myself downstairs and into the kitchen where I first have to take my allergy and asthma medicine. Once I take those I make a bowl of cereal and a glass of either juice or milk. At 7:30 I go back upstairs and brush my teeth. Then I finish up any last minute things I need for school before I feed our dog, Roxi. At 7:43 my mom drives me up to the grade school where I get on a bus that goes to the high school.

Mirror Image

When I look in the mirror I see a person that isn’t afraid to face tough situations because of the tough situations I have already been through. Looking in the mirror I see more than just physical appearance, I can also see my personality. I am a personable outgoing girl who can look at most situations and find something good that came out of it. If I could change my physical appearance I would make my eyes blue again and my hair blonde again. As a little girl I had blonde hair and blue eyes but they slowly started changing to brown hair and gold eyes. If I could change anything in my personality it would be my ability to talk to any person I just met no matter what their personality is. I find now that if I don’t click with a person right away I always have trouble talking to them. I would love to just meet a person and be able to talk about whatever I feel without feeling stupid or like they don’t understand me. I am comfortable with who I am, but I think there is always something, that if we had the opportunity to, we would change. I think for the most part others see me the same way I see myself, but sometimes I think I seem a little less outgoing than I really am. I hide tough situations behind a smile that I carry on my face everyday, because the way I see life is, if you can’t go through life smiling and having a good time then why live?

Time Traveler
If I could travel to any place in the world at any time in the past or future, in fifty years I would go to Cancun Mexico again. I would stay at the Gran Melia because that is the same place I stayed in sixth grade. It would be so cool to see what the city is like and to see if it has changed a lot from when I was there. I could only hope the food would be as good as it was fifty three years ago. If the Mayan Indian ruins are still standing I would go see them again. I wonder if they will still allow people to walk up the steps to go to the top of the pyramid, or if the stairs, with the rest of the sides, will be disintegrated so it isn’t safe to walk on them. It would bring back so many memories of the eight days we spent in Mexico. On our trip to the ruins in sixth grade we also swam in a sink hole. I would love to do that again. Mostly, in fifty years I just hope that the beaches are as clear and beautiful as they were back then. The best part of going anywhere with a beach is just laying in the warm sand feeling the water splashing the tips of your toes, and you don’t have a care in the world so all you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey that life takes you on.

Now That Homecoming is Over

Homecoming 2007 is now history but we can still look back and remember how great it was. For the first time ever freshmen went into the pep assembly winning spirit week, but walked out very disappointed because without lip sync we were unable to keep our place. In high school spirit week has so many more activities to be a part of. For instance the bon fire and community pep rally on Thursday night got us all pumped for the Friday night homecoming football game. Which for the first time in 30 games we finally won against Prairie Central. It was a milestone in Olympia football because everyone is so used to losing it wouldn’t even be a disappointment anymore. When we finally won we couldn’t contain ourselves and that resulted in all of the students running out to the field to celebrate with our Spartans. Saturday was a very busy day for me. I woke up and went straight to a cross country meet at 6:00 in the morning and came home to sleep for an hour before showering and going to get my hair done. At four thirty I went to Molly’s house for pictures before going to Logan’s Roadhouse to eat dinner. After we ate we went to Carl’s Ice cream before heading off to the dance. The dance was kind of a disappointment because they didn’t play very good music. However that didn’t stop everyone from having a great time and dancing all night long. After the dance thirty six of us headed off to Mclean to go to the lock in at the church. We went to play flash light tag and capture the flag and all sorts of games. Before we knew it, it was the next day and we were all going home to sleep and recover from the night before

Blog No. 5 Deserted Island

If I were going to be trapped on a deserted island for ten years I would want to bring a few things along. If I could choose one book it would be the Clique series because I could read those books over and over. I could choose any book but it wouldn’t matter because eventually I would get bored with everything. If I could take one movie with me to the island it would be High School Musical 2 because I have watched it five times in one day and not gotten tired of it so I know it wouldn’t get old for a little while at least. The CD that I would choose would be one with all of the songs on my iPod. I have such a large variety of songs on my iPod that could keep me entertained for hours at a time. You have to eat but it would be a really tough decision on what food item I would bring. I love all kinds of potatoes, but I also love spaghetti. In the end I would decide on pizza because there are four different food groups in that one food. The crust would be grain, the sausage and ham would be protein, the cheese would be in the dairy food group, and the tomato sauce would be my vegetable. To drink I would bring milk, simply because I love milk. If I could only bring one piece of clothing I would choose something that is a shirt and pants all in one because I wouldn’t want to have a shirt with no pants. Lastly for my miscellaneous item I would choose my cell phone. Because then I could get help and be able to go home.

Blog entry no. 4

“The journey, not the arrival, matters.” –Montaigne
It was eight minutes until the bell rang for the start of Christmas Break. Hands sweaty, and heart pounding Taylor sat anxiously awaiting the bell of her freedom for the next two weeks. Her family is planning on traveling all the way to Hawaii for vacation. It will be her first time there so she is extremely excited. Finally the bell rang and kids shuffled out of the classroom where they entered a very chaotic hallway. When Taylor got to her locker she realized it had jammed. This was the worst time to get a jammed locker because the office would be so busy and she wouldn't have a chance to get help fast enough to catch the bus. Once she got her locker open and her things together the buses were long gone and she was left stranded at her school during Christmas break. To fix this problem of course all she had to do was call her mom and have her come to her school to pick her up, but when her moms number went straight to voicemail she knew her mom was in a meeting. So she left a brief message and sat down on a bench and waited for a call back from her mother. An hour later her mom called said she would be right over to get her. When Taylor arrived home she went straight to her room to start packing for Hawaii. She soon found out that her new favorite t-shirt had been ruined in the wash and she wouldn't be able to take it on vacation. The next morning Taylor's family left at 4 am to head off to the airport where absolutely everything was going wrong. Her carry on bag had items that kept on triggering the alarms to go off, and then after all that trouble it turned out that her bag was too large to be a carry on. So she had to go back through security to get the bag checked so she could claim her luggage later. A little while later Taylor was sitting on giant plane with nothing to do for 12 hours. The twelve hours slowly passed and she wondered if they would ever be there. She decided to start a conversation with the girl sitting next to her. She found out that this girl was staying at the same hotel as Taylor and would be taking the same flight home too. Taylor couldn't help but smile to know the fact that they could become friends over the week. The two girls talked about everything on the ride to Hawaii and hadn't had enough of each other by the time the plane landed so for the next ten days the girls were attached at the hip and did everything together. It turned out that it seemed like the journey was taking for ever but if she hadn't taken the journey she wouldn't have came out of the experience with a new friend.

Blog # 3 Ten years from now

Blog Entry No. 3

Ten Years From Now
I like to imagine my life ten years from now, and hopefully I will be in college or be graduating from University Of Illinois, in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Education is very important to me so I know I will go to a nice college. I will be applying for jobs in whatever I major in, which at this time I have no idea what it will be. University of Illinois is in Champaign Urbana so I will live in a nice apartment until college is over. After college I would like to buy a nice house somewhere. I think California would be a really neat place to live but who knows where I will be in ten years. Some of my friends will go to U of I too so I can keep in touch with them. I hope to be in a serious relationship but not yet married. The headlines of the day will be about all of the new technology. Technology is becoming more and more advanced each and everyday so I think there will be some great new invention ten years from now. The Bears will win the super bowl, and the Cubs will win the World Series. David Hanks will be the president of, if not the USA, something important. If I live in California I will live in a huge mansion, and live a great life of luxury and days at the beach. I want to become a world traveler, and go on vacation to as many places as possible. In ten years I wish to have traveled to Fiji.

Entry No. 2 my bedroom

My bedroom
We just recently moved a few months ago and my new room is huge! It is eighteen by twenty four feet. I still have some boxes left but otherwise my room is usually very clean. My room is decorated with a lot of different things, but mostly my room resembles a beach. My walls are aqua blue, the color of the ocean in Cancun, and my carpet is the color of sand. I have sea shells and sand dollars everywhere, and picture frames with palm trees. All of my furniture is white, which I think makes the room look bigger. I have a sign in the shape of a surfboard above my bed that says, “Memories are made at the beach.” I bought it in Osage Beach in the Ozarks. I liked that sign the best because I have been to the beach so many times, and I remember every moment of it. When I was decorating my new room I chose to make it like a beach because I think the beach is a very soothing, calming place, and I love going there to just relax. I also keep boogie boards that I have gotten from different places in Florida on my walls. I keep them there to remind me of all the great times I’ve had on vacation. I have one corner in my room that the whole wall is covered in posters of Zac Efron. In that same corner, I keep all of my scrap booking supplies. I have made three scrapbooks, and it is something I really enjoy doing. If someone were to walk into my room they would know I love the beach, shopping (hints all of the Abercrombie bags everywhere), scrap booking, and they would know my favorite colors are hot pink and aqua blue.

Entry No. 1: welcome to my blog

My name is Anna Goujon, I am a freshman at Olympia High School in English 1 writing, and I am going to be keeping a blog through the first semester of this school year.

I stand at five foot five inches tall, and I hope I will grow at least one more inch. I have straight light brown hair, and gold eyes, or according to Robbie hazelnut coffee eyes. I love to shop, and most of my clothes are from Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister. I would describe my clothing style as classic. I don’t like the trendy styles of a lot of the clothes these days, but I think Abercrombie and Hollister have the most classic clothes that won’t go out of style in one year.
I have many likes and dislikes. My favorite sports teams are the Cubs, the Bears, and the Fighting Illini. Four wheelers are a huge part of my family. My brother races all the time and I love to jump all the huge jumps on the tracks. I love to sing and dance and I am in tap, jazz, ballet, and I used to be on dance team. My favorite movies are High school Musical 1 and 2. I love Monical’s Pizza, and Mountain Dew. I love most kinds of music and country is probably my favorite. Kenney Chesney is my favorite country music singer. One of my favorite places to go on vacation is the Lake of the Ozarks because you get to ride jetskis and go boating all the time. I dislike when people have bad attitudes, and I don’t like the Cardinals.
