English blog no. 13 Wow that was one BIG turkey!
Thanksgiving couldn’t come fast enough, and for the first time the day went way too fast. My day started at my grandmas at noon when we ate our first feast. We had ham instead of turkey, which I was thankful for considering I hate turkey, and tons of other dishes. My grandma didn’t want everyone at her house so all of my cousins and I ate with her. At about 3 we went to my aunt and uncles on my dad’s side of the family. There were about twenty five people there and an absolutely huge amount of food. My brother and I could only stay there for about an hour and a half before we had to leave for my other aunts on my mom’s side of the family. By that time I had already eaten two full thanksgiving meals and felt like I never wanted to eat again. Although I was stuffed I managed to fit in some more mashed potatoes, and dinner rolls, oh and of course dessert. My aunt Michelle had made three different pies, and we also had apple crisp. The highlight of my Thanksgiving was the wrestling match type of things we always have with my uncle. At one point he had me hanging upside down dangling from his arms. I was laughing but my mom had to ruin the fun and make him put me down. After that my uncle downgraded to “The Shocker”, which is when he tickles you. Now I don’t know about most people but whenever I am tickled, I pee my pants. Luckily I had just gone to the bathroom so it didn’t affect me. For the rest of the night we snuck up on each other giving wet willy’s. Finally we decided to call it a night and go home to get a good nights rest before we would be getting up at three in the morning to go shopping.

English 1 blog no. 11 Just by Looking
First impressions can either make or break a friendship. I believe that you can’t judge a book by its cover because all of my close friends have a lot more to them then what you might see from the outside. I think you can tell by looking at them what their clothing style is. For example I wear mostly Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch and I think that shows that I have more of a classic style rather than a trendy style. For the most part I think you can’t tell about anything just by looking at a person. For example you have to talk to them to know if they are friendly, or intelligent. Just because a person has glasses doesn’t mean they are nerdy or really smart. It just means that they can’t see as well as others. People put stereo types on others before they even get to know them. It is a part of life and something that almost all of us do. We look at someone and say oh they look weird I’m not going to be their friend, but the truth is until we learn more about them we can’t judge them, and who knows they might be judging you too, but be the one to break the ice because you never know how perfect things can turn out. If only we were back in kindergarten where it was as simple as “Hi what’s your name? Wanna be friends?”

The Nature Nut Blog no. 7

Living out in the country you encounter many experiences with nature. Whether it is splashing into the pond off of the zip line or treading through the creek to cool down on a hot summer day, there is no way to avoid nature. During the summer there are plenty of ways to keep entertained outside. Hiking through the woods and riding quads all day are some of the best ways to get some fresh air and have fun. I have had adventures and misadventures with nature but one of them specifically tops them all. My greatest adventure with nature was in third grade when we took a family vacation to the Grand Canyon. We went on a river rafting trip through the Colorado River that winds through the canyon. It was a lot of fun even though the water was 49 degrees and we had to run in it as a tradition of the trip. I also had a bucket of water dumped over my head by our tour guide because I was getting too hot. While we were there we also hiked down the Canyon. I got too tired so I went back up to the rest area with my grandma while the rest of my family and my grandpa hiked all the way down to the bottom of the canyon. We went to Slide Rock on our way back to Phoenix, which is like a creek or river that is formed like a giant slide so you can swim in it. It was so much fun. The funniest part of the whole trip was waking up to see 20 giant elk outside of our hotel window.

Blog no. 12 I’m Stuffed!
This year my Thanksgiving is going be a little bit different than years in the past. For the first time we are going to dinner on both sides of my family so I will be eating a thanksgiving meal twice. I will wake up kind of early for me at about nine o’clock and I won’t eat anything until I go to my grandmas house at noon. My grandma is making ham, cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie. I will stuff my face full of food and enjoy a few laughs around the family table. After that I will try to recover in about two hours before we go to my aunt’s house on the other side of the family. My aunt is having turkey, yuck, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, even yuckier, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, and a few other things. I am mostly excited for dessert at my aunts because she is getting a pumpkin cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory in Chicago when she goes to pick up my cousin from his college. It is always fun at my aunts because we have a kids table and an adults table. It’s not much of a kids table because I am the youngest one there but we are all under twenty. We always make fun of what our parents and relatives are talking about and we try to be as annoying as possible. And of course the tradition that tops all others is that we have to have a family wrestling match. Thanksgiving is a great time of year and all of that eating is the best preparation for Black Friday shopping.

Blog no. 10 Morning Routine

My morning routine is very precise. I have to allow myself to wake up a bit before getting into the shower so from 5:45 until 6:09 I hit the snooze button on my alarm clock. It goes off every eight minutes, and even though it is extremely annoying I have to hit snooze three times. Once I rise from my bed I sheepishly make my way to the bathroom. I take my shower and get out around 6:30. From 6:30 to 6:40 I get dressed. Sometimes this takes longer than ten minutes if I can’t decide what to wear. Between 6:40 and 6:45 I go back to the bathroom to do my hair. I have to different hair products that I put in my hair before I use the blow dryer. One gets rid of frizz and one makes my hair soft and shiny. I take about twenty minutes to finish up my hair before I can move on to make up at 7:00. I don’t like to waste a whole lot of time on make up but it has to look nice, so on an average day I take about fifteen minutes. After that I drag myself downstairs and into the kitchen where I first have to take my allergy and asthma medicine. Once I take those I make a bowl of cereal and a glass of either juice or milk. At 7:30 I go back upstairs and brush my teeth. Then I finish up any last minute things I need for school before I feed our dog, Roxi. At 7:43 my mom drives me up to the grade school where I get on a bus that goes to the high school.
